A Link Farm is any group of websites that link back and forth between themselves (typically only among themselves), the sole purpose of which is to increase the ranking of one of the websites by making it SEEM to Google as though it has other websites linking to it. This is supposed to build PageRank. It is pretty easy for Google to spot these reciprocal links and penalize the sites involved.
