Above The Fold means the display area of a web page (or screen of a smart phone) that loads without needing to be scrolled to. If you have to scroll down to see something, then it is below-the-fold. It is terminology borrowed from the newspaper industry; most big newspapers are folded in half. When the newspaper is displayed for sale, the items above the fold are more visible. In web design, the items that show on the first screen that loads are the "above-the-fold" items.
